This vow is also performed on the fourteenth day of Kartak Sud. Fasting is to be done on the day which is the fourteenth day at sunrise.

By doing fast on Teras, on Chaudas got up early in the morning, set up a pot without holes, put Panchratna in it, filled it with pure water, and put all the herbs. Put flowers and wear white clothes. Decorate the pot with ornaments. Keep a copper or bamboo vessel on it, fill it with rice or wheat and worship Shiva Parvati. Those who desire wealth should worship it with fragrant flowers, whole leaves, and basil leaves.

STORY OF LORD SHANKAR & PARVATI

Earlier, a king named Sam was ruling in a town named Soumya. He and his subjects were religious. The lord of that town was Someshwar Bhagwan Shankar.

In that town, there lived a Brahmin named Somasharma who was well versed in all the scriptures like Vedas, etc. His wife was also pious and religious. Somasharma used to beg for alms regularly. They used to keep enough of the grains they got to eat for both of them and donate the rest. But as they could not get enough to eat, they could not donate, so both of them were sad.

To destroy his poverty, Somasharma worshiped Lord Shankar with devotion. Shankar was pleased and gave an appearance as Brahmin and asked: “Why are you sad?” Then Somasharma told that he can’t even donate because of his poverty. So Mahadev, who came as a Brahmin, told how to perform this ritual of Shiva-Parvati. Accordingly, Somasharma duly vowed to Shiva-Parvati. On completion of the vow, he got wealth and happiness due to its influence. Then he started donating according to his will.

Lord Vishnu also performed this vow by worshiping one thousand lotus flowers of Sri Shankar along with his own lotus.

WHAT HAPPEN WITH SOMSHARMA AFTER PERFORMING THIS VOW…?

Somasharma duly vowed to Shiva-Parvati. He performed this vow with a full heart and full devotion. On Completion of the vow, He got wealth and happiness due to the influence of this vow. He got a Big house in the center of the town. He got lots of wealth. After some time the king of this town died. Then all the people of the town accept the Somasharma as their new king. So suddenly, Somasharma become king,

Because of this sudden change in his life. He can’t believe that it all is happening because of this vow. Now he is thinking that if I got this kind of success in my life because of this vow then anyone in this town can become successful like me because of this vow.

So he got worried about this situation. Then he thought that if he make a prohibition on the performance of this vow. So no one can perform this vow. So no one can become successful like him. Now he is becoming selfies day by day.

He makes an announcement in the town that no one can devote Lord Shankar & Parvati. If anyone does the same he/she will get punished by the king Somasharma.

Because of this announcement, no one is now devoting Lord Shankar & Parvati. If anyone do the same the King punished him and give him the death sentence. Now, every people in the town was in the fear of the king. And no one is devoted to Lord Shankar.

WHAT HAPPENED AFTER THIS INCIDENT…?

Lord Shankar got angry at this activity of the king. Now he makes the king’s son ill. The King called the best doctor from the town to heal his son. But not anything is performing. And his son died. After this, another king attacked this town and King Somasharma loses in this war and loses his kingdom. Now he became as poor as earlier he was.

Through this incident, he memorized his past few days. And he realizes that he disrespects the vow of Lord Shankar & Parvati. He assumed that as a result of this Lord Shankar got angry with him. That’s why he became like this.

So he again started to perform the vow of Lord Shankar & Parvati. And he apologizes for his mistake. After some time Lord Shankar gave an appearance in the dream of Somasharma and talk about his mistake. And told him to make 10 people perform this vow and he will become wealthier again. And he also got his son to live. So Somasharma started to promote this vow. And after doing this he makes 20 people perform this vow.

So again Lord Shankar was pleased with him and he became wealthier and his son was alive again. After this Somashankar used to donate every day. And worship Lord Shankar & Parvati and also promote worship. At the end of the day, he lives his life happily with his family.
