The EMC standards for Electromagnetic Compatibility apply to all electronic products within the framework of the affixing of the CE marking. They have also been mandatory since 2016. The main function of EMC standards is to ensure everyone’s safety about electromagnetic disturbances.
An electromagnetic wave is a physical phenomenon of transmission which includes several sub-categories of waves. Among them, we find, for example, light waves, radio waves, and microwaves.
More specifically, the purpose of this standard is to ensure that the product does not generate electromagnetic disturbances other than those related to its use. Conversely, it also validates the level of sensitivity of the object concerning waves that may come from other products in its environment.
The concept of electromagnetic disturbance is essential because it allows the propagation of the wave. However, poorly apprehended, it can also modify the structure of a product, create malfunctions or influence the environment. This is why we can observe cases of people hypersensitive to waves, or even Wi-Fi reception disturbed by the use of the microwave oven.
The purpose of the EMC directives is therefore to protect users against waves and to ensure that the operation of the product is done in a controlled and safe manner. For this, the manufacturer must carry out the necessary quality controls and an electromagnetic evaluation.
He must then make a declaration of conformity with the European Union to be able to benefit from the CE marking.
THE CASE OF GIANT LED SCREENS
Regarding giant SMD Screens, like any electronic product, they are subject to EMC directives. Indeed, their intrinsic operation involves the emission of light waves and in some cases the reception of Wi-Fi or GSM type communication waves. The electromagnetic interference they generate must therefore only be inherent to their correct operation. That is to say, they must be limited to those related to media broadcasting.
This is why our screens and our components are checked to ensure that they are compatible with the CE / CEM marking directives. First of all, because it is an obligation. But also, because we want to constantly ensure the quality of our products and reassure our customers vis-à-vis certain import screens.
If it’s mandatory, why make sure
CE marking is, therefore, an obligation for the manufacture and/or sale of screens in the European Union. This implies that they comply with the directives of Electromagnetic Compliance. The purpose of these standards is to protect consumers and ensure the proper functioning of goods.
However, with the flow of commercial products circulating the world, the controls are increasingly complex. Thus, some not very virtuous companies take advantage of this to circumvent these standards.

This is why we often find in the news item headings stories of accidents related to imported products that were not up to European standards. Beyond accidents, compliance with these standards is also an indicator of reliability vis-à-vis the supplier.
