About TET Exam

The Teacher Eligibility Test, or TET, is the minimum qualification required in India for any individual to be appointed as a teacher in Classes I through VIII. The exam is required for teaching positions in Indian government schools. Paper 1 is for teachers of Classes I to V, and Paper 2 is for teachers of Classes VI to VIII. 

The TET is administered by the Indian state and central governments. Most states conduct their own TET. The exam is held to meet the goals of the Right of Children to Free and Compulsory Education Act of 2009.

  • Candidates for CTET Paper I must have passed Class 12 (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and be in the final year of a 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education or a 4-year Bachelor of Elementary Education (B.El.Ed) or a 2-year Diploma in Education (Special Education) or a Graduation with at least 50% marks and a Bachelor of Education.
  • Candidates for CTET Paper-II must have a graduation degree and have passed or are in the final year of a 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education or a 1-year Bachelor in Education (B.Ed) by the NCTE or a 1-year B.Ed. Candidates must have passed Class 12 with at least 50% and be in the final year of a four-year Bachelor in Elementary Education (B.EI.Ed) or B.A/B.Sc.Ed or B.A.Ed/B.Sc.Ed program.
Uttar Pradesh Teacher Eligibility Test (UPTET) State Candidates must pass either the CTET or the UPTET to work in UP schools. So, if you want to teach in UP schools, you should apply for the UPTET Exam right away. 

  • UPTET eligibility for primary school teachers: The candidate must be a graduate with two years of B.T.C training or a graduate/postgraduate degree from an NCTE/RCI recognized university with two years of D.ED diploma, or a graduate with two years BTC training in Hindi or Urdu, or they must have obtained 50% in Class 12 and a four-year diploma in B.EL.ED.
  • Eligibility for the UPTET for upper primary school teachers: Candidate must be a graduate with two years of B.T.C training or a graduate or postgraduate with 50% marks from a recognized university and two years B.D/B.D (Special) diploma.
  • The candidate must have a graduate/postgraduate degree with at least 50% marks from an NCTE-accredited institute. or The candidate must be a graduate with a minimum of 50% from a recognized university. They must have a two-year B ED/Special B ED diploma, or they must have 50% in Class 12 and a four-year diploma in B.EL.ED or they must have 50% in Class 12 and a four-year diploma in B.S.C.D, or they must have 45 percent in graduation (SC/ST/OBC/PH/Ex-serviceman).
Haryana Teacher Eligibility Test (HTET) State
  • Level 1 (PRT for Classes 1–5): A Class 12 diploma with at least 50% marks and a Diploma in Elementary Education are required (D.EI.Ed).
  • Level 2 (TGT for Grades 6–8): Bachelor’s Degree with a D.EI.Ed or BEd.
  •  Level 3 (PGT for Class 8 and above): Master’s Degree in addition to BEd HTET.
Tamil Nadu Teacher Eligibility Test (TNTET) State For Paper I – 

  • PUC / Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in the final year of a two-year diploma program in elementary education (by whatever name known). 
  • PUC / Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% and passing or appearing in final year or fourth year Bachelor of Elementary Education (BEl.Ed). 
  • Senior Secondary (or equivalent) with at least 50% and passed or appearing in the final year of a 2-year Diploma in Education (Special Education).
  • Graduation with at least 50% marks and passing or appearing in the final year of a 2-year Elementary Education Diploma (by whatever name known).

For Paper II – 

  • Graduation with at least 50% marks and completion or enrollment in the final year of a 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education (by whatever name known). 
  • Graduation with at least 50% marks and passing or appearing in the final year of a two-year Bachelor of Education program (B.Ed).
  • PUC / Senior Secondary (or equivalent) with at least 50% marks and passing or appearing in the final year of a four-year Bachelor of Elementary Education 
  • PUC / Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in the final year of a four-year BA.Ed /BSc.Ed program. OR Graduation with at least 50% and passing or appearing in final-year B.Ed.
