What is an NDA?
The full name of NDA is National Defence Academy. The National Defence Academy is a joint service academy of the Indian Armed Forces, where cadets from all the three services – Army, Navy and Air Force – are trained together before moving on to pre-commissioning training at their respective service academies. NDA is the world’s first tri-service academy.
How to join NDA?
To join NDA, a candidate has to pass class 12th with Physics and Mathematics as a subject. After passing 12th, you can fill the form of the NDA Exam and give the exam, its forms come out every year in June and December. You can apply for an NDA form online by visiting the UPSC website. After clearing the NDA Entrance Exam you are called for SSB (Services Selection Board) Interview.

Educational qualification

Candidates’ age should be between minimum 16.5 and maximum 19 years for NDA exam.

How to prepare for the NDA exam?
NDA exam is a combined exam for recruitment to the Army, Air Force and Navy. Candidates are selected through a written test and interview. After the written exam and SSB interview, candidates are required to clear the NDA Physical Fitness Test, Group Discussion etc. test. The first stage to join NDA is the written examination. In NDA, written examination is conducted for recruitment to the major posts in the armies. In the written examination mainly questions related to Mathematics and General Ability test are asked.
Interview
After clearing NDA written exam candidates are called for Service Selection Board (SSB) Interview. Candidates have to pass the interview. In which you have to pass all types of tests like Aptitude Test, Physical Fitness Test, Group Discussion, Personal Interview etc.
Physical fitness
NDA entrance exam tests both mental and physical ability of the candidates. For which NDA Physical Test is taken. In the NDA Physical Fitness Test, the weight of the applicant is assessed according to his height. For the NDA Syllabus, there are two subjects: General Aptitude and Mathematics. General Aptitude tests your knowledge of English, general knowledge, history, geography, and economics. Mathematics tests include questions on topics like algebra, integral calculus, trigonometry, differential calculus, etc.

Total Time – 4 to 5 hours
In the Army and Air Force, candidates with a height of 152-183 cms should weigh between 42.5 kg and 66.5 kg, and in the Navy, the applicant with a height of 152-183 cms should weigh between 44 kg and 67 kg. Applicants must cover 2.4 km in 15 minutes and do 20 sit-ups.
How to apply for the NDA exam?
Every two years, the NDA exam takes place. In the month of December and June, NDA forms are available online. To appear in the UPSC NDA exam, candidates can apply by visiting the official website of UPSC, upsc.gov.in.
