These three sci-fi flicks are among the best Hollywood has had to offer in recent times and can serve as a good guideline for what you should see if you enjoy sci-fi-themed movies
1. Dune- 2021
The Dune story is among the most loved stories in the history of sci-fi and, it is now Legendary Pictures that has announced its first Dune movies adaptation in nearly 30 years. One look featuring Denis Villeneuve at the helm and Hans Zimmer on music duty was enough to keep us intrigued.
It’s true, Dune is already a mess. Its plot seems all over places and Herbert was forced to create five books to keep his story going. The plot isn’t particularly engaging. I’m not entirely sure how this book became such a big hit.
2. Arrival – 2016
Arrival is an American Science Fiction film written and directed by Denis Villeneuve and written by Eric Heisserer, based on the short story 1998 “Story of Your Life” by award-winning writer Ted Chiang. It features Amy Adams, Jeremy Renner, and Forest Whitaker.
The film’s theme is the communication between non-terrestrial beings. It premiered on November 11th, 2016, in the U.S., with a November 25 release in China.

All three of us liked “Arrival” because it was visually stunning as well as thought-provoking. It’s not everyday that a film challenges viewers to think outside the box, but this thriller did just that.
3. passenger
“Passengers” is a 2016 sci-fi movie directed by Morten Tyldum and with a production budget of $120 million. It was released in theatres on December 21, 2016.
After the population of planet Earth has been reduced to the surviving 100 million people, one man is woken up from cryogenic stasis and starts to learn about his new reality. After 90 years in suspended animation traveling on the spaceship Avalon, he wakes up from hibernation as there’s no more reaction control oxygen left to delay re-entry into Earth’s atmosphere.
“Passengers” was released on December 21, 2016, in the United States and Canada. The film received a fresh score of 70% on Rotten Tomatoes, compared to a 73% critics’ rating. On Metacritic, the film had a score of 63 out of 100 based on 32 critics, indicating “generally favorable reviews”. ดูหนังออนไลน์ HD 4K
4. The martian- 2015
A trailer for the book “The Martian” was released in March of this year.
The Martian has been praised by critics. Review aggregator site Rotten Tomatoes gave the film an overall rating of 93% from 297 reviews, with an average of 8/10. The website’s consensus on critical reviews says “Exciting, intelligent, thought-provoking, and fun, The Martian delivers a solid sci-fi adventure that will entertain viewers hoping for a little science along with their entertainment.” On Metacritic, which assigns an average rating for reviews, the film scores an average of the 79th percentile and is based on 48 reviews that have left “generally favorable reviews”.
The Martian shows that life can be unpredictable and that sometimes you just have to accept it and go on with your life.
